East Harlem

East Harlem is a diverse and culturally rich neighborhood in Upper Manhattan offering a variety of housing choices from brownstone row houses to renovated apartment buildings.  Outdoor gardens and parking space are not as sparse here as they tend to be in the City, and commuting is easy.  The FDR Drive, the Metro North, and the 4/5 and 6 subway lines can all be found here.

The neighborhood runs from 110th Street to 125th Street, and from the East River to Fifth Avenue.  Delicious food, a multitude of cultural institutions, and a large variety of entertainment options make East Harlem a very desirable place to live. Metropolis, a well-known television studio, is found here, and art is celebrated even in the streets: murals by the artist James De La Vega decorate several buildings in the neighborhood.  Jazz and cabaret music can be found at bars and restaurants like Creole and Orbit, and shopping is made very convenient by the East River Plaza on 116th Street, which offers megastores like Target and Best Buy.  For a fabulous dinner, guaranteed, visit the famous Rao's Restaurant, which dates back to 1896.
