Best Restaurants in Brooklyn Heights
written by Warren Lewis Realty Team
Residents and visitors to the area have many compelling choices on what to do and where to eat. The restaurants vary from staple chains like Chipotle and Five Guys Burgers and Fries, to local buzz like Fatoosh Pizza and Hibino. There’s certainly no shortage of eateries, but to get you started, three destinations stand out as the best restaurants in Brooklyn Heights.
Voted as the top three in the neighborhood, Hibino, Fatoosh, and Waterfalls Café highlight the ethnic diversity of New York. Hibino serves Japanese cuisine in its full array. Start with the Tuna Tataki and enjoy the sweet onion dressing over Sashimi Tuna. Enjoy an entrée of Beef Kakuni (also known as braised short ribs) in soy broth and scallions. Authentic Japanese cuisine can be hard to find, but Hibino delivers with flavors that transport diners across the globe.
Fatoosh might seem, at first glance, to be a novelty restaurant. After all, the restaurant is dubbed a Middle Eastern Pizza Shoppe. The food is no gimmick, though, and in a city that prides itself on a self-same pizza—thin crust, thin sauce, and thin cheese—Fatoosh wages taste bud warfare and holds its own. Order their Lahmbajin Pizza with ground beef, onions, tomatoes parsley and seasonings and let the pie speak for itself. The ingredients may seem standard, but the hidden punch in the seasonings make this dish an unforgettable dinner.
Waterfalls Café has recently gone through an ownership change, one that has alternately made customers elated and enraged. The food is said to be fresher and cleaner by some, and more generic by others. The service has not changed, though; diners simply have to be comfortable with a wait. Regardless of the ownership, the food is still unique, Middle Eastern, and delightful. Guests will enjoy the variety of hummus dishes that are a specialty of the region, but they should not leave without venturing into uncharted territory, perhaps enjoying a Mouhamarah made with red peppers, ground walnuts, olive oil and spiced to perfection. Middle Eastern cuisine has taken root in the best restaurants in Brooklyn Heights, and its residents and visitors should embrace the tongue-tingling delight it has to offer.
