Boerum Hill Restaurants

Brooklyn is home to some of the finest dining in the state of New York, much of which can be found in the revitalized and trendy Boerum Hill neighborhood. Whether you want a classic delicatessen sandwich, a filet mignon or a specific ethnic cuisine, you do not have to leave the neighborhood—just check out one of the Boerum Hill restaurants!

One review could not do justice to the many eateries within the Boerum neighborhood, so here you can find three of the best choices, starting with Mile End. Mile End is a Montreal Jewish Delicatessen, and its specialty is the deli sandwich. If you are going for the first time, be persuaded to try “the Ruth Wilensky.” The salami makes its own case for salty, savory perfection, and the mustard dances all the way to your belly. Second-time visitors have a long list to select from; everything, from the Smoked Chicken dinner to the Trout has the familiar Jewish spin with sharp flavors and distinct aromas. Be adventurous!

Char No. 4 is a bourbon-inspired restaurant and bar. The menu is always changing, so diners cannot expect to encounter the same entrees each time they visit. However, there is never an offering on the menu—not a single one—that fails to please! Variations on half-chickens, scallops and salmon make regular appearances on their menu, the pages of which never lack a steak dish for the most red-blooded diners. With dinner, do not forget to try one of the in-house bourbons. It would hardly be a visit to a restaurant whose enthusiasm centers on the smoky beverage without sampling a glass of fine bourbon!

It might be cheating to call Betty Bakery a restaurant, but it would be cheating a visitor to Brooklyn not to mention Betty Bakery! Anyone in the neighborhood should make an excuse to stop into the bakery. For breakfast, they serve tea breads, croissants, and a brioche that is not easily forgotten. Throughout the day, guests can choose between the large cookies or scones, or cut straight to the chase and order the bread pudding that makes this bakery the lasting marker on a trendy neighborhood. Choose wisely wherever you go, and hunt for new finds regularly. Boerum Hill is full of charm.
