The holidays are over, and your schedule now sits refreshingly empty. It is a new year and despite the snow and cold, the perfect time to explore something new. Staying in a house or apartment to hide from the snow can make a person blue. The following events in Williamsburg provide a cure for the winter doldrums, helping you explore Brooklyn while you do so.
January
Dec. 11, 2011 –Feb. 5, 2012: Bienvenido Bones Banez presented by the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center: A vibrant one-person art show by a member of the Wah Salon Art Club
Jan. 6, 2011 – March 3, 2013: Vernita Nemec presented by the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center
Jan. 7, 2012: No Sleep Till Brooklyn at the Morgan Warehouse: Monthly underground dance music event. Must be 18 to enter and 21 to drink.
Jan. 7, 2012: The Lovesick Expo Brooklyn: An expo of local wedding professionals specializing in handcrafted, eco-friendly goods.
Jan. 8, 2012: Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra at Brooklyn Bowl: Salsa concert with a $5.00 cover charge. Must be 21 to enter.
Jan. 11, 2012: Opening reception for Vernita Nemec at the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center
Jan. 21, 2011: The Brooklyn What at The Trash Bar: See a legendary Brooklyn band in action. Must be 21 to enter.
February
Feb. 1-4, 2012: Forms Festival at the Bowery: A four-day festival exploring independent music, art and gaming.
Feb. 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2012: Smorgasbrewery at the Brooklyn Brewery: Five vendors a week showcase their eats in the brewery-tasting room. There are also free tours of the brewery on the hour every hour.
Feb. 24, 2012: Sharon Von Etten at the Music Hall of Williamsburg: A folk rock concert presented by the Bowery. Must be 18 to enter.
